Creamy Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (about 225g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate shavings, berries
Instructions:
1. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
2. In a saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for a minute to soften the chocolate.
4. Gently whisk the chocolate and cream together until smooth and well combined. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
5. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.
6. Once the chocolate mixture has cooled, gently fold in half of the whipped cream until fully combined.
7. Add the remaining whipped cream and continue to fold until the mousse is smooth and creamy.
8. Divide the mousse into serving glasses or bowls.
9. Cover and refrigerate the mousse for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
10. Before serving, garnish with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or berries, if desired.
11. Serve chilled and enjoy the rich and creamy chocolate mousse!
This dessert is decadently creamy and perfect for any chocolate lover.
